Judge Simon Cowell's U.S. Version of TV Talent Show 'X Factor'

A spokesperson for Will Smith has blasted reports the Hollywood star has signed up to judge Simon Cowell's U.S. version of TV talent show "The X Factor". The Independence Day star was rumoured to have inked a deal with the British music mogul to join the panel of experts on the show, but a representative for Smith has spoken out to address the speculation, telling Gossip.Com there is "no truth" to the story.

A number of stars have been tipped for X Factor roles - Rihanna, Nicole Scherzinger and George Michael have all been linked to the show, which kicks off in September. Cowell has yet to confirm his official line-up of judges, but insists there will be big names.

British actor David Tennant has thrilled fans by announcing he is to re-team with his former "Doctor Who" co-star Catherine Tate for an upcoming Shakespeare production in London. The pair delighted TV viewers as side-kicks on the cult sci-fi show between 2007 and 2008, and they're now set to act alongside each other in a West End run of "Much Ado About Nothing".

Tennant tells BBC News, "Theater's where we both started really and it still feels to me my proper job a little bit. Going back to the theater sounds like something that I would naturally do and to get the chance to go to work with your mates sounded like an opportunity that was too good to miss really." Tate adds, "I've always wanted to do it, but never said because I thought it was too close to the Doctor Who time. David just rang in the summer and said 'I'd like to do it, what do you think?' and I said, 'Oh God, I've been wanting to ask you for years'."

The show will run at London's Wyndham's Theatre from May this year.

'Italian Job' Voted The Greatest British Film Ever Made

Sir Michael Caine's movie "The Italian Job" has been voted the greatest British film ever made. The 1969 heist classic, about a group of criminals who attempt to steal a van full of gold, notched up 15 per cent of votes in a survey of 1,000 film fans to find the best movie to come out of the U.K. "Monty Python's Life of Brian" came in second, while "The Full Monty" trailed in third with six per cent of votes in the Sky Movies HD poll.

Meanwhile, Sir Anthony Hopkins was crowned Britain's favorite actor with 12 per cent of the vote and Laurence Olivier was a close runner-up with 10 per cent. "The Italian Job"'s lead actor Caine rounded out the top three. Dame Judi Dench was hailed the country's top actress with a quarter of the votes cast, while her closest rival, Dame Helen Mirren, took 14 per cent.

"Rear Window" director Alfred Hitchcock was voted Britain's best filmmaker.

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies, says, "The results of the Greatest British Film poll speak volumes about the nation's favorite homegrown talent, and the dream line-up would be a truly spectacular film. As we approach awards season and the competition escalates, we wanted to celebrate the best of British talent... The 20-year-old would slip in the role of Courtney Russell, the "daughter of a Tsunami Warning Center scientist who goes missing on the eve of a big storm hitting the Honolulu coast."

Beside JoJo, the episode also features "Bones" actor Joel David Moore as Sheldon Tunney, the "missing scientist's second in command".

"Hawaii Five-0", which has returned from the winter break this week, was recently voted the Favorite New Drama at People's Choice Awards. The series is well on the way to cast a new fifth series regular team member who is likely a woman.

Some people were lucky enough to see "Scream 4" at an early test screening in Pittsburgh on January 6. First impressions of the movie have since appeared online and it can be concluded that they are pleased with what they saw.

DanielleRocks from scream-trilogy.net says the fourth film is "the bloodiest" and "the best" of other "Scream" films, gushing that "the opening scene was hilarious and brutal." He/she adds, "The ending was insanity."

Another member of the forum on scream-trilogy.net also comments on the film, saying it is "smart, hilarious and absolutely brutal." However, he/she notices that there were incomplete effects shots at the so-called "work-in-progress" screening.

Meanwhile, cowherpower_2006 on IMDb is less impressed by the movie, mentioning that it "starts off very good like a typical Scream movie." It is added that "The killer is just stupid..." and "also the ending had to have been at least 20 minutes or longer and just kept going on and on and on."

Talks about "Scream 4" screening are also brought to Twitter, with someone saying it is "action packed". The Twitter user which uses nickname vicksvapor77 additionally informs that the shown movie was not a final cut and the early screening was held to get fans' feedback. He/she suggests that there might be other screenings and many versions of the film, and thus the final one can change from a test screening cut.

"Scream 4" centers its story on Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, who returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill and her Aunt Kate. Unfortunately Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.

Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette reprise their roles as Sidney, Dewey and Gale respectively, joined by Emma Roberts who portrays Sidney's cousin. Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin also land roles in the Wes Craven-directed thriller, which is due April 15 in the U.S.

Relativity Media Is Planning to Turn Biblical Story

Relativity Media is planning to turn biblical story, David versus Goliath, into a movie under the title "Goliath". The studio and producers apparently will give a dark touch to the film as The Hollywood Reporter says they "give it a modern vibe that harkens to the spirit of films such as '300' and 'The Bourne Identity'."

According to the site, "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" director Scott Derrickson has been hired to serve as a helmer for "Goliath". He last directed 2008 "The Day the Earth Stood Still" starring Keanu Reeves, and is attached to direct sci-fi family movie "The Substitute".

The upcoming movie, which is said to be a period action movie made with contemporary sensibilities, has a script written by John D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Ryan Kavanaugh, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are on board to produce it.

The story is set around the time when "fierce warrior Goliath is sent to track down a foretold king of the Israelites. A young shepherd David is thrust into an epic chase and adventure fighting for his own life, the lives of his loved ones and eventually the lives of his people." The ultimate point in the story is none other than a battle of literal Biblical proportions between the young man and the giant sent to destroy him.

Back on last year's San Diego Comic Con, Tom Welling told The Flickcast that Clark is indeed stepping up as Superman. "Yeah, that's the plan. I don't know how they're going to do it, but I know that inevitably, that's where we get to." He added, "[The Superman costume] looks good. I wasn't there when they shot it on set. I was actually on another stage shooting something else. But I know what it looks like."

He also spoke about the responsibility that comes with wearing the Superman suit. "I think it's a huge responsibility for Clark and for me," explained Welling. "And hopefully, we can get to a place where the fans feel as though we did everything that we could. We serviced the character the way that will make them all happy."

"Smallville" returns for its final episodes on January 28 on The CW.
